holistic-health1 True and ultimate healing must taken place from within – carried out by the body-mind itself – is the first of the Natural Healing principles.

2 To help your body-mind overcome what causes disease in the first place, i.e. tackling the root causes of disease.

3 The overall health and wellbeing of a person is the number one priority, not the disease or symptom.

4 “First do no harm” (according to the Hippocratic Oath) and work with your body to heal itself, avoid consuming things which may harm your body, whether in the short- or long-term. Working with your body makes sense, because your body-mind has the innate wisdom and ability for self-preservation, to keep itself alive and well, and to self heal.

However it’s important to note that as part of the healing process, your condition sometimes has to become worse before turning for the better. This is termed a healing reaction or a detox reaction, and is due to the body’s attempts to cleanse, detoxify and heal itself. This could be in a form of a headache or extreme tiredness, among others.

For example, when you undergo a cleansing program using Aloe Vera Gel or Herbs, toxins are flushed from your organs and tissues, and are brought back into circulation. This could be challenging for a few days, after which you start to gain a sense of health and wellbeing.

5 The body-mind is viewed as a whole, and any health problem must be addressed from that perspective. This is coherent with the definition of Holistic Health.

6 Dealing with emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of a person is the sixth of the Natural Healing principles, which is consistent with the definition of Holistic Health, and is probably the most underrated of all the Natural Healing principles. It’s also worthwhile repeating that in Natural Healing the person is treated, not the disease.

7 Natural Healing is relatively inexpensive, and can be free.

8 The application of what is known to work to achieve the best results, without always needing to know how Holistic Healing works.

9 The belief that the body-mind can heal itself. Most chronic degenerative conditions have multiple causes. Thus, when your eating and living habits are addressed in a holistic manner, the disease-causing conditions may be reversed and a health-promoting environment is provided. Your body can then exercise the blueprint it has for perfect health, and be restored to a state of health and wellbeing.

10 Take personal responsibility for your health – one of the most important of the Natural Healing principles. The healthiest people in this world are almost always those who take responsibility for their own health, and live lives which are markedly different from the majority.

Believe in the wonderful healing capability of your body-mind – and then get to work on changing your life!
